Frontend Engineer (Freelance)

Fawna is looking for a freelance frontend engineer to help ship polished product and marketing experiences across the website and application. This is a hands-on contract role for someone who combines strong implementation skills with a sharp eye for typography, spacing, responsive behavior, and interaction detail.

Projects may include product dashboards, pricing experiences, customer stories, CMS-driven pages, feature illustrations, launch pages, and reusable interface components. The work is scoped in focused sprints, with clear design files, written requirements, and direct collaboration with product and design.

What this role will own

The freelance frontend engineer will take defined interface work from design through production. Depending on the project, ownership may include:

• Building responsive marketing pages from polished Figma designs.

• Creating reusable React, TypeScript, or Webflow components.

• Implementing CMS-driven collections, filters, cards, and detail pages.

• Developing product UI for dashboards, tables, review queues, and insight views.

• Refining animations, interactions, empty states, and loading states.

• Improving accessibility, performance, semantic structure, and browser consistency.

• Documenting implementation details so future work remains maintainable.

Typical projects

Assignments may vary in size, but examples include:

• Translating a new landing page or feature section into a responsive production build.

• Extending the existing design system with a new reusable component.

• Connecting a Webflow layout to CMS or ecommerce fields.

• Implementing a data-rich product view from a detailed interaction specification.

• Auditing an existing page for responsiveness, accessibility, and performance issues.

How the work is organized

Most projects begin with a short written brief, Figma designs, acceptance criteria, and a defined delivery window. The engineer will collaborate directly with a designer or product owner, share progress early, and raise implementation tradeoffs before they become blockers.

Strong work in this role means the final interface feels faithful to the design, stable across devices, and straightforward for the team to maintain.

What Fawna is looking for

• At least three years of professional frontend development experience.

• Strong proficiency with React, TypeScript, modern CSS, and responsive layout.

• Experience translating detailed design systems into production interfaces.

• Confidence working with component architecture, states, and reusable patterns.

• Comfort with Git-based workflows, code review, and asynchronous communication.

• Attention to accessibility, semantic HTML, performance, and interaction quality.

• Reliable availability for approximately 15-20 hours per week during active projects.

Helpful experience

• Next.js or another modern React framework.

• Webflow development, CMS architecture, or ecommerce templates.

• Data-heavy SaaS interfaces, dashboards, tables, and filtering patterns.

• Animation libraries, SVG, or lightweight product illustration.

• Working with analytics, experimentation, or product-led growth teams.
